Don't get me wrong, we registered for a car seat that costs more that I can even imagine. This is important because we want our little guy to be safe. We picked the one that goes from 5lbs to 100lbs, so I figure it will last for awhile. I'm not planning on letting my toddler consume multiple Big Mac's, so it will be a little bit before he hits the 100 lb mark =).
We also registered for a digital camera. The one I have is about 6 years old, and doesn't really function anymore. If anyone has ever seen how many pictures I took of Kai when she was a puppy, you understand why a new camera would be amazing.
I was lucky enough to get a crib and a glider for free, from a niece of a friend. The crib is beautiful (white) and the glider will be perfect once I recover the cushions. I've also inherited an infant carrier/car-seat, a play mat thingy that you can attach toys to, I have a high chair (that is about the same size as my kitchen) that I may be passing on, a bouncy seat, a baby piano, I think my sister has a stroller on the way too. I'm perfectly happy knowing that none of my family or friends will need to waste money on the things I've already acquired. I'm pretty sure he'll never know the difference.
I'm thinking I may start my own registry. Dave and I spent almost 3hours at Target, and our list is pretty pathetic! I checked it on the website, and we have ONE page plus one silly fake leather kiddie chair that we thought was funny. There are other things we would like to have, and there's no way of letting people know what those things are without putting it out there somehow.
This dresser is from Ikea and would look nice with the white crib. There are two different sizes, I'm thinking we could use the bigger of the two.
Here is the Wildflower site where I've found the cloth diapers I want to start with. I've done rediculous amounts of reading on cloth diapering over the last couple of months, and it just seems to make sense for us to give it a try! It of course costs more to get started, but could potentially save us a LOAD of money in the end. This store is located in Scottsdale, I haven't made it over there yet, but I plan on taking a trip soon. It's also nice that you can order online. I thought if anyone would like to add to our collection that would be great! I also registered with them, so you can look me up under Leslie Perry.
Basically to get started we need 24-36 "Prefolds" in size: Infant
The prefolds require 4-6 "Diaper Covers" in size: Small. There are other similar ones with fun patterns, any of these would be great as well.
There is also a "Cotton Diapering Kit", It comes with everything you need to get started (basically everything listed above). Please know, I'm not expecting anyone to spend this much money!
This is the "Laundry Detergent" that is recomended by a few of the articles I've read. It's not available @ the Wildflower store, I've only seen it Online.
